The Chinese celebrate a week-long national holiday to mark the founding of the people republic of china on October 1st, 1949.
if it coincides with the Mid Autumn festival, as it does once every 5 years, a day is added to the Holidays to make it 8 days of celebration for the Chinese to enjoy.
